Puerto Rico<\/strong> has long tried to attract Hollywood<\/strong> to film on the island, with success in such endeavors as \u201cThe Rum Diary,\u201d \u201cContact,\u201d \u201cGolden Eye\u201d <\/strong>and \u201cAmistad.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now it seems that the Dominican Republic<\/strong> has become a popular filming location for Hollywood<\/strong>, so much so that the Dominican Republic<\/strong> government estimates that recent film productions have brought in $152 million<\/strong> to the Caribbean<\/strong> country\u2019s coffers since the coronavirus pandemic began more than a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presence of Hollywood<\/strong> celebrities such as Mark Wahlberg, Vin Diesel <\/strong>and Jennifer L\u00f3pez<\/strong> in the country has attracted the attention of the public and the media, who closely follow their movements to the different sites chosen by the film industry to shoot the films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wahlberg<\/strong> is shooting his new movie \u201cArthur the King\u201d<\/strong> and just finished filming on locations in the Colonial City<\/strong> of Santo Domingo<\/strong>, after two months of work. Such has been the welcome he has received in the Dominican Republic<\/strong> that he revealed his plans to build a house in the Cabrera<\/strong> community, located in the Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez<\/strong> province (the northeast region of the country).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actor shared the details in a courtesy visit to the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mej\u00eda<\/strong>, taking advantage of a break from filming in Col\u00f3n Park<\/strong> and the Catedral Primada de Am\u00e9rica<\/strong>. Wahlberg<\/strong> has been in the Dominican Republic<\/strong> since February<\/strong>. The film was being shot in Las Terrenas, Saman\u00e1<\/strong>, and from there he published photographs and videos of the beaches, as well as sharing with various community members while enjoying a Presidente beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wahlberg<\/strong> is known for his performance in films such as \u201cTed\u201d, \u201cThe Departed\u201d,<\/strong> by Martin Scorsese<\/strong>, and blockbuster franchises such as \u201cTransformers\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another attraction is the Puerto Rican singer and actress Jennifer L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, who had been in the country for several days recording the movie \u201cShotgun Wedding\u201d,<\/strong> accompanied by a team of more than 10 people that includes two assistants, two teachers, her chef, her stylist and three members of her personal security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Puerto Rican actress, known as the Diva from the Bronx<\/strong>, had been staying with her children in a villa in Casa de Campo<\/strong>, located in La Romana<\/strong>, about 76 miles from Santo Domingo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has been visited by her fianc\u00e9, Alex Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, a former player for the New York Yankees<\/strong> baseball team, who seized the opportunity to play golf with some friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actress has starred in a variety of films including \u201cHustlers\u201d, \u201cMonster-in-Law\u201d, \u201cEl Cantante\u201d, \u201cJack\u201d, \u201cSelena\u201d, \u201cMoney Train\u201d, \u201cMaid in Manhattan\u201d, \u201cAnaconda\u201d, \u201cAngel Eyes\u201d, \u201cThe Wedding Planner\u201d, \u201cThe Back-Up Plan\u201d <\/strong>and \u201cWhat to Expect When You\u2019re Expecting\u201d,<\/strong> among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vin Diesel<\/strong> is another Hollywood<\/strong> celebrity who has been filming on Dominican soil. He has been shooting his scenes for \u201cFast and Furious 9\u201d<\/strong>, with several of these being filmed in the tourist zones of Punta Cana<\/strong>\u2019s private retreat, Cap Cana<\/strong>. Punta Cana <\/strong>and Santo Domingo<\/strong> are also among the vacation spots of stars such as NBA legend Michael Jordan<\/strong>, Spanish singer Julio Iglesias<\/strong>, Juventus player Cristiano Ronaldo<\/strong>, Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony<\/strong>, and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGreat week of filming with my Dominican crew. Thanks for everything, my people! All love, always,\u201d Diesel<\/strong> wrote on March 19 on his Instagram<\/strong> account along with a picture of him and the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vin Diesel<\/strong> has been a regular visitor to the Dominican Republic<\/strong> for over 10 years. It is normal for locals to see him walking through different areas of the country with complete freedom and happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January<\/strong> he met with President Luis Abinader<\/strong> in the province of Puerto Plata<\/strong>. The meeting took place in the municipality of Luper\u00f3n<\/strong>, where the president attended a meeting with tourist investors. At that time, the actor was seen on social networks in a photograph with Abinader<\/strong>, Tourism Minister David Collado<\/strong>, and the administrative officer of the Presidency, Jos\u00e9 Paliza<\/strong>, who is a native of Puerto Plata<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
