Description
The Independencia Avenue Municipal Cemetery in Santo Domingo is the city’s first official cemetery, with a history dating back to the 19th century. It was closed decades ago and is now preserved as a historical memory site, containing tombs and mausoleums of notable figures in the country. Restoration efforts are currently underway to preserve its historical and cultural value.
