Description
Located in the community of Damajagua, Los Montones, in San José de las Matas, the La Milagrosa Chapel is one of those tourist attractions that makes your skin crawl when you discover it.
The heart trunks of pines used for its construction, tied to the imagination, achieve a true connection with nature and with God.
Inside the church there are allegorical images of various saints. Its floor is extremely rural with touches of tree trunks and for the faithful to sit down they placed guano chairs, very characteristic of the place since there are many artisans in the area.
Its main altar is a rage to the imagination. The wood contrasts harmoniously with the blue stained glass windows with those of a cross in the center formed by other red and white stained glass windows.
The work was ordered for the community of Los Montones by the businessman Manuel Arsenio Ureña and his wife Camelia Rodríguez, who donated it as part of their social commitment to the Catholic Church.
It was inaugurated on December 14, 2003. It has capacity for 100 people comfortably seated.
